Twelve University of Pittsburgh undergraduates, including seven Dietrich School students, have been awarded Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarships for the March 2026 application cycle.
The competitive, merit-based U.S. Department of State program supports students of limited financial means to study or intern abroad, providing them with skills critical to American national security and economic prosperity. The department awards nearly 3,000 students with up to $5,000 in funding each year.

The Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences congratulates Professor and Interim Chair in the Department of Political Science, Chris Bonneau. Professor Bonneau has been selected unanimously by the Senate Executive Committee for the Award for Service in the University Senate. The award recognizes Professor Bonneau’s service as President as well as the many different roles he has held within the University Senate. There will be a celebration on Thursday, May 21, at 3 pm in 2700 Posvar Hall, during the Senate Council Meeting.
Karen Arndt, professor in the Dietrich School's Department of Biological Sciences, was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the society announced on April 22.
Out of Bounds: 2026 Studio Arts Student Exhibition featured works from 20 Studio Arts majors who will be graduating in the 2026 calendar year. Other works selected by faculty from department courses are included in In Bounds, located in the Frick Fine Arts Lobby cases.

The 2026 Artists-in-Residence Program marked its 10th anniversary this past Friday, bringing artists and researchers together in the Frick Fine Arts Auditorium. This year’s program was co-directed by Andrew Mugler (Physics and Astronomy) and Kevin Kohl (Biological Sciences).
Since 2022, the Dietrich School and CGS have been recognizing graduating seniors for important achievements within and beyond the classroom in the areas of scholarship, research, service, and leadership.
