The Dietrich School's Office of the Dean has been honored with the Pitt Green Office, Sapling designation by the University of Pittsburgh's Office of Sustainability. The accolade was officially presented on Monday, September 29, by Emily Potoczny, the Sustainability Engagement Manager for the Office of Sustainability, to key representatives from the Dietrich School: Associate Dean Natasha Tokowicz, administrative coordinator Brin Sharrar, and Dean Adam Leibovich.
This recognition highlights the school's commitment to advancing sustainability initiatives as outlined in the Pitt Sustainability Plan. The Pitt Green Office program includes four designation levels: Seed, Sprout, Sapling, and Sustainable Oak. The Sapling status, which the Dietrich School has achieved, corresponds to earning 50-74% of possible points in sustainability efforts.
The Dietrich School will strive for the Sustainable Oak designation, which means achieving 75% or more of the possible points, in the future. The school remains committed to its sustainability goals, aspiring to further enhance its environmental impact and leadership.
The Dietrich School kept the momentum going with an October 6 Dietrich Green Walk to kick off Campus Sustainability Month. The walk highlighted Pitt’s sustainable initiatives, from native and pollinator-friendly gardens to green roofs, biking and mobility amenities, waste diversion, and energy- and water-saving innovations across campus.
