Students from most colleges and universities can get ahead this summer by taking summer classes at Pitt. You can:

  • Finish general education requirements,
  • Take upper-division classes in your major without the stress of a full course load, or
  • Pick up extra credits to graduate on time or ahead of schedule!

Summer sessions at Pitt allow you to enroll in two classes in a row without course conflicts, maximize your day and evening hours, and schedule classes around vacations, jobs, and internships. Take advantage of hundreds of course offerings, transferable to most colleges and universities around the world. 

Summer Sessions at Pitt allow you to:

Current Pitt Students

Delve into your major or explore a new area of interest. Take a course you missed this year, or focus on just one class at a time to excel in your most challenging subjects. Whatever your reason for taking summer classes, current Pitt students can see below for how to register for summer sessions.

How to Register for Summer Sessions

Current undergraduate students must meet with their advisors before they can register for summer classes. If you already have met with your advisor and your advisement hold is lifted, you can self-enroll beginning February 14, 2025. Please log in at my.pitt.edu.

Note: If you have declared your major, please contact your departmental advisor for advising and registration appointments.

Summer Sessions Deadlines

Summer registration begins February 12, 2024 for undergraduates. Please see the summer sessions calendar to find out when classes begin, the last day for add/drop, and other important dates and deadlines.

Students should be aware of enrollment restrictions, prerequisites, dates, and deadlines—also, that course availability changes constantly during the registration period. Early registration maximize the possibility of getting into the desired class. Look for specific courses and view the current course schedule.

Tuition

Summer courses are billed on a per-credit basis. See current tuition and fee rates. Regular credit charges and fees are assessed. Regular University benefits such as access to libraries and other campus facilities continue over the summer.

Guest Students

Choose from hundreds of courses!

Credits are transferable to most colleges and universities around the world. And, Pitt offers a variety of upper-division courses that can be hard to find. We even offer online courses. If you're a student at another college or university and you'd like to take Pitt classes this summer, register now!

High School Students

Experience college now!

Earn credits and still have time for summer jobs and vacations. No matter what university you end up attending, you can prepare at Pitt. Credits are transferable to most colleges and universities. If you're a high school student, check out Accelerated High School to register.

  • May 7 (Wed): Registration period ends. Classes begin.
  • May 20 (Tue): Add/Drop period ends.
  • June 4 (Mon): Grade Option/Audit forms due by 5:00 p.m.
  • July 3 (Thu): Deadline to resign with partial refund.
  • August 12 (Tue): Classes end. Final exams held during last class meeting.

12-Week Session

  • May 14 (Wed): Registration ends. Classes begin.
  • May 21 (Wed): Add/Drop period ends.
  • June 4 (Wed): Grade Option/Audit forms due by 5:00 p.m.
  • July 2 (Wed): Deadline to resign with partial refund.
  • August 5 (Tue): Monitored Withdrawal ends. Classes end. Final exams during last class meeting.

6-Week 1 Session

  • May 14 (Wed): Registration ends. Classes begin.
  • May 16 (Fri): Add/Drop period ends.
  • May 22 (Thu): Grade Option/Audit forms due by 5:00 p.m.
  • June 7 (Sat): Deadline to resign with partial refund.
  • June 10 (Tue): Monitored Withdrawal ends.
  • June 24 (Tue): Classes end. Final exams during last class meeting.

6-Week 2 Session

  • June 25 (Wed): Registration ends. Classes begin.
  • June 27 (Fri): Add/Drop period ends.
  • July 3 (Thu): Grade Option/Audit forms due by 5:00 p.m.
  • July 19 (Sat): Deadline to resign with partial refund.
  • July 22 (Tue): Monitored Withdrawal ends.
  • August 5 (Tue): Classes end. Final exams during last class meeting.

  • July 9 (Wed): Registration ends. Classes begin.
  • July 11 (Fri): Add/Drop period ends.

  • July 24 (Thu): Deadline to resign with partial refund.
  • July 25 (Fri): Monitored Withdrawal ends.
  • August 5 (Tue): Classes end. Final exams during last class meeting.
