Prospective students ready to apply to the Master of Bioethics Program should apply online here. In an effort to reduce financial barriers to applying, the MA Program in Bioethics does not charge an application fee.
The following materials must be submitted as part of the application:
- Online application form.
- Digital scans of all undergraduate and graduate transcripts. Official transcripts are not required during the application process. Applicants who are accepted will be required to submit certified transcripts when they accept the offer of admission and matriculate.
- Three letters of recommendation. The most informative letters of recommendation comment on the applicant’s critical reasoning ability and writing skills.
- A personal statement of reasons for entering the program and goals for study within it.
- A writing sample, preferably a paper that demonstrates the applicant’s ability to construct an argument in support of a claim related to a topic in bioethics, ethics, philosophy, or some other field of the humanities.
- The Dietrich School will accept the Duolingo English Test as an alternative to TOEFL and IELTS from international student applicants.
Joint program applicants: Applicants to joint programs must complete applications to both the Bioethics Program and the School of Law(JD) or Medicine (MD) and must observe the application deadlines for each program of study. When applying to the Bioethics Program as an applicant for the JD-MA, applicants must indicate in the GradCAS online system that they are applying to the JD-MA. When applying to the Bioethics Program as an applicant for the MD-MA, applicants must indicate in the GradCAS online system that they are applying to the MD-MA.
