Voices of Pitt: Narratives of Resilience

Voices of Pitt banner art

Voices of Pitt: Narratives of Resilience is a gallery program designed to provide opportunities for the Pitt community to learn about each other across difference. Many students report feeling isolated or that they don't belong because they don't connect with others and their differences from other students keep them from being part of shared groups.

Here, we leverage lessons learned from the "Human Library" project, in which individuals share their stories as books that could be taken out on loan from a library. Viewers can interact with the individual stories through the QR codes next to the portraits in our physical gallery.

Artist Morgan Overton has created space for our imagination through her beautiful portraits as we listen to four of Pitt’s stories of resilience. These stories are all around us and we hope this inspires more conversation and space for belonging.
