Part time faculty rates are based on the combination of a number of factors, including individual qualifications, level of education, number of terms in which the individual has previously taught at the University of Pittsburgh, and the market within disciplines. All commitments to part-time faculty or other appointment stream faculty must be made conditional on the requirement of meeting minimum enrollments and these individuals must be informed that they may be replaced by full-time faculty or TA/TFs whose own courses are canceled because of low enrollments. A statement about this must be included in the contract letter to every part-time faculty member.
