This year’s Fellows of the Royal Society have officially been announced. Over 90 researchers all over the world have been elected to the Fellowship at the UK’s national academy of sciences including the Dietrich School’s own Graham Hatfull.
Hatfull is an Eberly Family Professor of Biotechnology and an HHMI Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences. His research centers around phages and their use of fighting pathogens, like mycobacterium. More and more pathogens are becoming antibiotic resistant on top of already being difficult to treat. Using mycobacteriophages, viruses that infect mycobacteria, is showing a lot of promise in being able to treat these diseases.
