Mario recently left the University of Pittsburgh to join the Center for Portuguese Studies and Culture at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. He is now Managing Editor of Tagus Press, the publishing arm of the Center for Portuguese Studies and a partner of the University Press of New England, a consortium university press based at Dartmouth College. Due to its groundbreaking translations, academic titles and journal, Tagus Press is recognized as a leader in bringing the literature, history, and culture of the Lusophone world to an English-speaking audience. In addition to completing his book project on African art in Renaissance Europe, Mario is currently engaged on a translation project of Fernão Lopes, an early fifteenth-century historian whose riveting chronicles constitute one of the classics of Portuguese medieval prose
