The American Chemical Society Pittsburgh chapter has just announced its 2025 awards, and Pitt is among the winners!
Pitt’s American Chemical Society (ACS) Student Affiliates group was awarded the Outstanding ACS Student Communities Award and the Green Chemistry Award for the 2024-2025 Academic year.
“Throughout the academic year, our student chapter coordinated more than 45 events, including a variety of speakers from academia and industry, professional development workshops, social celebrations, and undergraduate research presentations. Moreover, our strong outreach program hosted many community outreach activities, in which our students can participate, to share our love of science and chemistry with young kids living in the surrounding communities of Pittsburgh. Many of our outreach activities have a strong focus on the tenets of green chemistry.”
In addition to the student awards, Professor Nathaniel Rosi was awarded the Pittsburgh Award from the Pittsburgh Section of the American Chemical Society, which recognizes distinguished service to the field of chemistry. Rosi is recognized for his contributions to the design and development of chiral nanomaterials as well as new classes of biomolecule-based multicomponent and multidomain metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) having applications ranging from carbon capture to contaminant separation.
