Klaus Libertus has been named the inaugural Director of the College of General Studies (CGS) and Assistant Dean for Online Education. Libertus is a teaching associate professor in the Department of Psychology at the Dietrich School and has been teaching at the school in some capacity for the past 12 years.
In this role, Libertus will focus on allowing adult and non-traditional students to access a Pitt education. He will also help with advancing the development of full online academic programs.
In an email sent out at the beginning of the week from Dean Adam Leibovich, he stated:
“At a time when the demand for online education options is increasing, I’m excited to have Klaus leading our efforts to best meet this moment. His experience in online education development, curriculum design, and faculty collaboration will be key assets in this role. And, as a faculty member who teaches for both our Department of Psychology and CGS, he brings great insight into the needs and aspirations of the diverse student population who call CGS home.”
Libertus’s first day is August 15.
