The Humanities Center at the University of Pittsburgh presents Lucy Fischer, Distinguished Professor of English and Film Studies, lecturing on, “Abel Gance’s La Roue (1923): Modernity, Movies, Machine, Mind,” on Friday, November 18th, 1 p.m., in 602 Cathedral of Learning.
Abel Gance’s silent masterwork La Roue (1923) will be contextualized in relation to issues of modernity, film theory, avant-garde movements, and the status of the machine in the early 20th century. Illustrated with film clips, slides, and frame enlargement.
