Lily M. Ng, PhD, Named 2023 Dietrich School Distinguished Alumna

The Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences takes great pride in honoring Lily M. Ng, PhD, with the school's 2023 Distinguished Alumni Award.

This award deservedly recognizes Dr. Ng's remarkable professional achievements as an academic and administrator and her dedication to her students. Professor Emeritus of Cleveland State University and past Chair of the Chemistry Department, Dr. Ng established herself as an impressive scholar, publishing over forty articles in peer-review journals. She also generously served on committees, including seventy-seven dissertation/thesis committees.

Additionally, Dr. Ng has been an advocate of female and minority faculty and students and a promoter of their participation in STEM fields. Her notable accomplishments include being the first female minority full professor and chair in the Chemistry Department at CSU, the first minority president of Iota Sigma Pi National Honor Society for Women in Chemistry and founding member and two-time president of the Chinese American Faculty and Staff Association at CSU. Ng was named Distinguished Emeriti Faculty in 2022, recognizing her many achievements.

For these reasons and more, the Dietrich School is excited to honor Dr. Lily M. Ng and celebrate her accomplishments.
