In this panel, hosted by the Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies Program, three generations of women with connections to Homing, to Beaver County, to feminism, and to creativity will discuss how place, time, class, and ideology make a person. Rooted in Western Pennsylvania, each panelist encountered this place through different generations. Their experiences coincide and diverge and shed light on the region today. Join the Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies Program for an engaging book talk with Sherrie Flick as she discusses her powerful memoir, Homing: Instincts of a Rustbelt Feminist. Blending personal narrative, reflections on place, and feminist insight, Flick explores what it means to belong in the Western Pennsylvanian Rust Belt. Sherrie’s recent awards include a 2023 Creative Development Grant from The Heinz Endowments and a Writing Pittsburgh fellowship from the Creative Nonfiction Foundation.
