Jonathan Livengood awarded ACLS Mellon Dissertation Completion Fellowship

Jonathan Livengood, a doctoral candidate in the Department of History and Philosophy of Science, has been awarded a Mellon Dissertation Completion Fellowship from the American Council of Learned Societies, providing him with support during the final year of writing his dissertation. 

Livengood, whose areas of research specialization include causation and experimental philosophy, has a master’s degree in philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh. He graduated from Truman University in 2004 with two bachelor’s degrees, one in mathematics, and one in philosophy and religion. He will receive his master’s degree in statistics from the University of Pittsburgh in 2010 and his PhD in history and philosophy of science in 2011.

In 2009, Livengood and fellow HPS graduate student, Justin Systma,were awarded the William James Prize for Best Essay submitted by a graduate student to the Society for Philosophy and Psychology.
