Right Start Courses

Right Start, Right Now!

Get your college career off to the Right Start with the following courses that provide the tools you need to succeed in college.

  • ARTSC 0111: Right Start 1 (one credit, fall term) teaches critical habits such as studying for college-level courses, taking effective notes, managing test anxiety, and working confidently with instructors. The class meets one hour per week.
  • ARTSC 0112: Right Start 2 (one credit, spring term) focuses on long-range and career goals. In this course, students explore options for majors, minors, and certificates, and begin planning their careers. The class meets one hour per week.
  • ARTSC 0114: Right Start 3 - Humanities (one credit) demonstrates and explains the career path for undergraduate students majoring in the humanities. Emphasis is placed on self-evaluation, proactive involvement as a student, and research into the academic and professional requirements of a chosen discipline. Students will research three specific careers and secure an internship for the following term.
  • ARTSC 0115: Right Start 4 - Social Sciences (one credit) demonstrates and explains the career path for undergraduate students majoring in the social sciences. Emphasis is placed on self-evaluation, proactive involvement as a student, and research into the academic and professional requirements of a chosen discipline. Student will research three specific careers and secure an internship for the following term.
