412-624-6556

Staffed by experienced consultants trained in helping others with their writing, the Writing Center provides free services to students, faculty, and staff at the University of Pittsburgh. Writing Center staff work one-on-one by appointment, host a regular workshop called the Writers’ Cafe for undergraduates interested in creative writing, and provide peer tutoring.

Math Assistance Center

3rd Floor, Thackeray Hall
412-624-4179

The Math Assistance Center offers math tutoring services on levels ranging from introductory courses through the first-level scientific and business calculus courses. Students may visit during regular office hours for assistance for low-level courses, or make an appointment for assistance with more difficult course material and one-on-one consultation. For a $20 refundable deposit, the center also loans calculators.

Statistics Lab

435 Cathedral of Learning
412-624-3247

Computers in the Statistics Lab provide students enrolled in statistics courses access to the software packages they need to complete their coursework. Tutors in the lab can answer questions and offer assistance when students have difficulty with a particular assignment or have questions about a specific topic. Students should consult the lab's calendar to find out when tutors and the lab facilities are available.

Calculus Lab

126 Gardner Steel Conference Center

The Calculus Lab gives students an opportunity to work on class assignments using Maple or Matlab software. Students can also receive help from tutors in the lab on a walk-in basis. Because classes are held regularly in the lab, students should check the lab's schedule to find out when assistance is available.
