Scientific and Engineering Student Internship Program (SESI)

Begin submitting applications December 1, 2007

The SESI program is administered through Catholic University of America at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center just outside of Washington, DC. This long lasting program has given future scientists, engineers, and computer programmers the opportunity to gain experience in their field of study. The many types of research activities at NASA/GSFC include:

  • High energy astrophysics
  • Astrochemistry
  • Geophysics
  • Solar and Planetary Sciences
  • Applied Engineering

Students work closely with mentors and are often co-authors on scientific publications. Many students have also been interns for multiple summers. Beginning December 1, 2007, students can submit required application materials to ensure full consideration. More information is available at:

Details

  1. A 12-week paid internship program, June 2, 2008 - August 29, 2008 with a flexible schedule and work period.
  2. Eligible students range from high school to graduate students.
  3. Talks by GSFC scientists are given throughout the summer.
  4. Students are given the opportunity to enhance their speaking and communication skills.
  5. There are planned weekend activities throughout the Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia areas.
