Research Opportunities

Often, the best way to learn about an academic subject or discipline is by participating in it. That's why many of our faculty members welcome students to participate in their research. In addition to departmental research opportunities, the Office of Experiential Learning offers the following research opportunities for undergraduates:

First Experiences in Research

First Experiences in Research, offered each spring term, provides opportunities for Arts and Sciences undergraduates to become involved in faculty research projects in the social sciences, humanities, and natural sciences. Read more about First Experiences in Research

The Research Abroad Program (RAP)

The Research Abroad Program, co-sponsored by the University Center for International Studies and the University Honors College, gives students the opportunity to conduct research while studying abroad.

Students work closely with faculty members in disciplines ranging from communications to biology. In the past, students have helped promote HIV awareness, update technology in hospitals in Africa, and reorganize and catalog ancient manuscripts in one of Italy's national libraries.

“My RAP experience on St. Kitts Island was phenomenal. The research gave me a hands-on look at how my communications major can be practiced in order to make other peoples' lives better.”
