Anthony and Concetta Ambrosio Internship Award
Institute of Politics Internships: Students will be placed with an elected official in the Pittsburgh area at the local, state, or federal level. The student will earn two credits for working nine hours per week (ARTSC 1910 or PS 1910) and an additional two credits for attending a required weekly seminar (ARTSC 1911 or PS 1911) that meets on Thursdays from 4 to 6 p.m.
Students must be undergraduates, preferably in their junior or senior year. Although students will be selected through a competitive process, we are looking for diversity among the students selected. Students from all majors are encouraged to apply. Neither previous political experience nor a particular GPA (so long as it is above a 2.0) are required.
Students must complete a short application, submit an official transcript of grades, and complete an essay on why they would like to participate in this program.
Location: Pittsburgh and surrounding area
Deadlines: Students must obtain materials from B-4 Thaw Hall, and must submit completed materials to Marie Hamblett, 710 Alumni Hall by mid-November (for spring semester) or by early April (fall semester).
The Fund for American Studies: Live, learn, and intern in DC if you're looking for exciting internships, engaging lectures and dialogues, and challenging classes.
U.S. State Department Internships: The State Department manages several student employment programs for students to get experience in a foreign affairs environment through first-hand knowledge. Some of their students work in Washington, DC, and others have the opportunity to work at embassies overseas. The deadline to apply for summer internships is November 1. Most State Department internships are unpaid.
