Internships

Academic internships offer students opportunities to gain practical experience and to reflect on academic subjects within different settings outside the classroom. Students can earn between one and three credits for an academic internship approved through the School of Arts and Sciences. Arts and Sciences faculty members serve as sponsors to facilitate learning from the connections that are made between the internship setting and academic subjects.

Profitable Practice Strategies, a consulting firm for optometrists, physical medicine, and chiropractic businesses, is seeking a Writing/Journalism Intern to write and customize forms and letters, prepare materials for meetings, research and compose newsletters, and conduct media research. The intern will also create proposals and be responsible for administrative duties such as filing and copying. This internship is available during the fall and spring semesters. Panera Bread/Covelli Enterprises is seeking a Marketing Intern. This position is for the Pittsburgh territory which includes Southwestern PA and West Virginia. Minimal travel is required with mileage reimbursement. The intern will report to the Marketing Coordinator and Marketing Director, assisting in daily marketing duties including partnerships with local schools, universities and chambers of commerce. The intern will also assist in media buying of billboards, print, radio and TV, as well as help create marketing strategies for market growth, writing news releases and copy. Potential night and weekend work at events such as marathon races, walks, and other charity events. This internship is for students pursuing a marketing or communications degree with coursework in advertising and marketing classes. The Anthony and Concetta Ambrosio Award provides an opportunity for an Arts and Sciences undergraduate to participate in an unpaid summer 2008 academic internship at CBS Corporation in New York City, New York. The student receives an award of $5,000 for tuition and living expenses. Read more

The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace (CEIP) Junior Fellows Program is designed to provide a substantive work experience for students who have serious career interests in the area of international affairs. Approximately 8-10 students will be selected to work at the CEIP in Washington, DC on a full-time basis for a period of one year. Read more
