Study Abroad
Thanks to the Internet, satellite networks, and TV and film, the world can sometimes seem very small. In fact, there are still big differences between places, people, and cultures. Learning to appreciate these differences by traveling and studying other cultures up close can be eye-opening and inspiring. Arts and Sciences emphasizes study of foreign cultures and study abroad as important components to your growth and learning and sponsors conduct direct research in the field to complement the things you’ve learned in the classroom.
Internships
Academic internships offer students the opportunity to gain practical experience and work done outside the classroom. They also enable you to learn things about a career or field that you may not have heard about during classroom discussion. Students can earn between one and three credits for academic internships approved through the School of Arts and Sciences.
First Experiences in Teaching
First Experiences in Teaching provides undergraduate students with an opportunity to learn about teaching through faculty mentorship. By learning how to teach, you’ll reinforce your own learning, achieve a greater understanding of the topic at hand, and learn directly from experts in particular fields.
