College in High School

Looking for a challenge? Want to get a head start on college? For more than 25 years, the College in High School (CHS) program has offered qualified high school students the opportunity to earn University of Pittsburgh credits during their regular school day—without leaving their school. Each year more than 2,900 students from 100 high schools participate, making CHS one of Pitt’s largest community partnerships.
For those students who are academically ready for the rigors of college-level courses, instruction is available in calculus, chemistry, physics, statistics, computer programming, communications, French, and Latin. The courses are taught by high school teachers who have been certified by the University as part-time adjunct faculty. Exams are written and monitored by the University of Pittsburgh. Students who register pay less than 20 percent of the normal tuition for college credits.
Accelerated High School

If you’re a junior or senior in high school who wants to earn college credits while experiencing the Pitt campus, then Accelerated High School is for you. To enroll, you should have the approval of your parents or guardians and your high school principal or guidance counselor—and, in some cases, the University department. Although Accelerated High School is intended for juniors and seniors, under special circumstances younger students may be granted permission.
