Global Teaching
Pitt in London
The University of Pittsburgh is pleased to sponsor a program which is offered both fall and spring semesters in the heart of London, one of the most vibrant, artistic, and cultural cities in the world. Pitt in London affords students the opportunity to study the humanities, business, social sciences and communications in this internationally diverse capital city. The program is conveniently located in the Royal Borough of Kensington, just blocks away from the Kensington Palace and Gardens, Hyde Park, the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum, and the Victoria and Albert Museum. See the Pitt in London pages on the Study Abroad Web site for details.
Pitt in France
The Department of French and Italian and the Study Abroad Office are excited to once again offer a six-week summer study abroad program in Nantes, France. Pitt in France 2009 will be led by Professor Brett Wells and run jointly with the Institute for the International Education of Students (IES).
The program will begin in Paris, where for four days, students will immerse themselves in French culture, cuisine, and history. Students will then travel to Nantes where the University of Pittsburgh collaborates with the Institute for International Education of Students (IES), the on-site organization which coordinates program logistics. The IES Center occupies the fourth floor of a 19th century residential building located a few blocks from the historic center of Nantes. Cultural programming that complements the academic program includes two full-day excursions (to the Loire Valley and Mont St. Michel) and other events designed to coincide with the themes of the academic program. See the Pitt in France pages on the Study Abroad Web site for details.
Pitt in Italy
For the seventeenth consecutive year, the University of Pittsburgh's Department of French and Italian will sponsor a summer abroad program allowing students to earn seven credits while studying the language and culture of Italy.
The University of Pittsburgh collaborates with Study Abroad Italy (SAI) to offer a program in Syracuse. The program will be led by Professors Lorraine Denman and Stefano Muneroni from the Italian Program and run in conjunction with Study Abroad Italy on the beautiful island of Sicily.
Students with two semesters of college-level Italian or the equivalent are encouraged to apply. Classes will be held at the Mediterranean Center of Arts and Sciences (MCAS). Students enroll in seven credits. All students must enroll in Italian Conversation and the Culture of Syracuse courses. See the Pitt in Italy pages on the Study Abroad Web site for details.
