Communications major Patrick Mitsch is the winner of this year's Anthony and Concetta Ambrosio Award, which provides an opportunity for an Arts and Sciences undergraduate to participate in an unpaid summer academic internship at CBS Corporation in New York City. The student receives an award of $5,000 for tuition and living expenses.
Mitsch was born and raised in Pittsburgh's North Hills and graduated from North Allegheny High School in 2005. He started working for The Pitt News sports section in his freshman year and became an editor as a sophomore. He has traveled all over the northeast and midwest covering Pitt sports, including an NCAA men's basketball tournament and the Big East Tournament in New York City. When Mitsch graduates next spring he plans to start a career in sports media.
When he's not doing freelance work for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review or public address announcements for various Pitt athletics, Mitsch enjoys traveling and playing pick-up sports in his spare time. He can easily be found at PNC Park tailgating for a Pirates game.
