English alumna Kara van de Graaf wins summer residency at The Poetry Center of Chicago

The Poetry Center of Chicago and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago awarded poet Kara van de Graaf a month-long poetry residency in downtown Chicago.

Van de Graaf graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in April '07 with an MFA in poetry. She will spend July immersed in Chicago's vibrant literary scene and hopes to use the residency to work on her latest manuscript.

Founded in 1974, the award-winning Poetry Center of Chicago is an independent not-for-profit arts organization that is committed to building Chicago's access to poetry through readings, workshops, residencies, and arts education. The Poetry Center is currently in residence at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Recognized as an innovator in the arts and internationally esteemed as a school of art and design, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago offers a comprehensive college education centered in the visual and related arts.
