Admissions

Thank you for your interest in Arts and Sciences graduate programs! To apply for admission, select a department and complete the online application through the ApplyYourself Application Network.

Carefully read the application instructions which identify specific requirements for a particular degree program. Questions you may have can be answered by calling the contact listed under each graduate program.

Before selecting a department and completing the application, please read the information below. It is helpful to know that all Arts and Sciences graduate programs require the following materials as part of the application process:

  • Completed application form
  • Personal statement
  • Official transcripts
  • GRE score (some departments may require a specific minimum score)
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Non-U.S. citizens: TOEFL or IELTS scores
  • Non-U.S. citizens: International Graduate Student Supplemental Application Forms (submitted at the time of the departmental "recommendation for admission" to the Dean's Office)

Application Fee Waivers

Application fees are waived for all graduate programs in the School of Arts and Sciences for the following:

  • Gates Millennium Scholars Program
  • McNair Scholars
  • Society for Advancement of Chicanos & Native Americans

Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Program

In the School of Arts and Sciences, McNair students, who apply for admission, are eligible to be nominated by departments for multi-year fellowships that generally carry a stipend and tuition coverage. Graduate application fees are waived for all graduate programs in the School of Arts and Sciences. In addition, in the School of Arts and Sciences, Graduate Studies will pay for any McNair scholar who is admitted into one of the School's graduate programs to visit the campus. Applicants should direct all inquiries to their Arts and Sciences Department.
